Stephanie Spindell, lead consultant and founder of Spindell Consulting is a specialist in organizational assessment and financial health analysis. Her background is diverse with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. She draws on over 20 years of experience as a business and finance professional at leading New York City financial institutions in which she assessed the long term financial sustainability of hundreds of corporate clients. The majority of her work at these institutions (Deutsche Bank, Standard & Poor’s Corporation and Merrill Lynch) involved developing comprehensive organizational and financial analyses, including evaluation of business fundamentals, profit and capital dynamics and determination of strengths, opportunities and weaknesses or risks.

Stephanie played a major role in the development of a strategic plan for a New York early childhood literacy nonprofit, Books for Kids Foundation. Responsibilities included: preparation for and handling all stakeholder interviews, SWOT analysis, organizational financial health analysis, peer benchmarking/landscape analysis, and drafting strategies and tactics.

She has designed and facilitated several nonprofit workshops in business planning, budgeting basics, and assessment of organizational financial health and risks at the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies, The Support Center for Nonprofit Management, Scenarios USA and New York Foundation for the Arts.

Stephanie is a lifelong learner with passions for and experience in education, the performing arts and youth development. Prior to consulting, Stephanie served as a dance and math educator at New York City’s public and private schools and as a program assistant at Dance New Amsterdam. She provides business and strategy consultations to the NYC arts community via DanceNYC’s Annual Dance Symposium. She studied Foundations of Dance at The 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Education Lab (New York), where she learned LABAN based teaching grounded in the NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. She believes dance and the arts need to be kept alive by supporting artists and arts organizations as well as providing our youth opportunities to take part in arts-in-education.

Stephanie graduated from Connecticut College and received an MBA in Finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business. She holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Financial Management and Reporting from Baruch College’s Marxe School of Public and International Affairs.
